We have some exciting news at the Napa River Ecology Center… we’ve got a new mascot! And it just so happens to be one of the most beloved animals along the river — an otter.

If you’ve ever seen an otter in the Napa River, you know how fun they are to watch. They’re playful, curious, and full of personality. They also happen to be a really great sign of a healthy river, which makes them the perfect symbol for everything we care about here at the Center.

Now that our new otter friend has arrived, there’s just one important thing missing: a name.

Help us choose!

We’ve come up with three name options, and we’d love your help deciding which one fits best:

  • Ollie – lighthearted and playful
  • Otto – simple, friendly, and classic
  • Echo – a nod to nature and the ripples we make together

You can cast your vote here.

Don’t miss it

Voting is open through June 30, 2026, so be sure to get your pick in before then.

We’re really excited to have a mascot that represents the river and the wildlife that call it home, and it makes it even more special to have the community be part of naming it.

Thanks for helping us welcome our new little river ambassador—we can’t wait to see which name you choose!
