Thompson Secures $2.5 Million For Napa River Ecology Center

Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-04) announced he secured an additional $2,500,000 in community project funding for Napa County’s River Ecology Center.

“Once complete, the Napa River Ecology Center will provide new educational resources to our community while helping to conserve our local ecosystems. I’m proud to have secured $2.5 million in federal funds to support its development and I’m grateful to Napa County officials for identifying the need for these funds.” said Rep. Thompson.

In American Canyon, Watershed Explorers see the world of the wetlands

About 60 young “watershed explorers” came to the south Napa County wetlands where avocets stride along mudflats, salt marsh harvest mice hide amid pickleweed, and plankton teem in murky waters.

Where better to learn about the marsh than in the marsh? That’s the approach taken by the American Canyon Community & Parks Foundation’s Watershed Explorers program.

The Eco-Center is planned to become a vibrant Bay Area hub for environmental education and nature-based art and science programs.

New ecology center project moves forward in American Canyon

A project touted to propel American Canyon into becoming an environmental leader is nearing approval. Plans call for the city’s 5,000-square-foot corporation yard building to be redeveloped as an education-focused ecology center adjacent to the city’s wetlands. The design permit for the project was approved Jan. 25.
