Programs
The Napa River Ecology Center location provides a unique opportunity for conservation programs and environmental education. The 2.5 acre parcel sits on beautiful uplands habitat and is located along the Napa River Wetlands and adjacent to the San Francisco Bay Trail and Bay Water Trail. The site is within in a 15 minute walking distance to three Napa Valley Unified District schools – two elementary and one middle school, as well as 10 minute walking distance to Boys and Girls Club American Canyon Club House.
The site is approximately ¾ mile from the Napa River Bay Trail, American Canyon Wetlands Trailhead which provides 10 miles of trails with an estimated monthly visitation of 5,000 + from throughout the region. Furthermore, the Ecology Center site is directly accessible from Highway 29, a major artery into the Napa Valley and centrally located to major interstates 80 and 37.
Planned programs include watershed, wildlife, environmental education, conservation, and nature art opportunities.
The Napa River Ecology Center is part of a Wetlands Restoration Study that is managed by the City of American Canyon. Funded through Measure AA, the study includes a kayak launch feasibility study, culvert restorations, and wetlands restoration opportunities surrounding the Ecology Center. The Napa River Ecology Center will engage community and students in future restoration and research opportunities. For more information visit City of American Canyon Wetlands Restoration.
