What is the Mosaic Mural?

The mural is a custom mosaic mural that playfully reflects the flora and fauna of the Napa River, and creatively recognizes donors to the Napa River Ecology Center.

How do I get involved:

ABOUT THE ARTIST –

Rachel Rodi Mosaic Design

Donor names will be recognized through handmade ceramic tiles. Each letter will carefully be impressed in shaped pieces of clay that, once glazed and fired, will come together to create beautiful, sparkling imagery of the tule and flowing water. The surrounding mural scene – including the animals and sky – will be made with hand-cut stained glass. The stained glass will be expertly cut, shaped and placed, using precise flowing lines and synchronized shapes that work together to define and complete the whole mural.

What are the donation levels?

$10,000 River Tile:

The Napa River is beautifully portrayed flowing through the wetlands as it connects with the Bay. River tiles are 36” x 8” inches long, giving your name the largest presence on the mural.

$5,000 Tule Grass Tile:

Tule Grass tiles capture the beautiful yellow and green hues which support for the health of the river. Tule tiles are 23’ x 5” and capture the gentle movement of river reeds and grasses. Add your name to a Tule Tile to demonstrate your support of the Ecology Center.

$1,500 Group Plaque:

Add your name to the 12 x 12 square plaques adorning the left side of the mural. Plaques seamlessly blend into the Tule reeds creating a beautiful show of support for the Ecology Center.

How much are you trying to raise?

We’re coming together as a community to raise $1,000,000 to help bring the Napa River Ecology Center to life. Every gift, big or small, moves us closer to breaking ground.

When will the project break ground?

With full funding, we’re planning to celebrate a groundbreaking in Spring 2026.

What does the mosaic wall look like?

The wall will be a one-of-a-kind, 8 x 14-foot mosaic mural that joyfully reflects the plants and animals of the Napa River. It’s also a beautiful way to celebrate and recognize the generosity of donors who are making the Center possible.

Do I need to put a name on the tile?

Not at all. You’re welcome to give anonymously or leave your tile without a name.

Can I honor someone else with a tile?

Yes! Tiles can be dedicated in memory or in honor of someone meaningful to you.

How long will my name remain on the wall?

Your name—or the person you choose to honor—will be remembered on the wall forever.

Can I choose where my tile will go?

Placement will be thoughtfully arranged by the artist, within the area set aside for each tile type.

Are there other materials in the mosaic?

Yes. The surrounding mural—featuring wildlife and sky—will be made of hand-cut stained glass, carefully shaped and placed to create a vibrant, flowing scene.

Who designed the mosaic wall?

The design comes from Rachel Rodi Mosaics, a professional mosaic artist whose work beautifully reflects the natural scenery of the Napa River wetlands.

How big is the mosaic wall?

The mural will be 8 feet wide and 14 feet tall.

How long will the wall last?

Because it will be indoors in a protected space, the mosaic wall is built to last for generations.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Yes. The Napa River Ecology Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and donations are generally tax-deductible. For specific guidance, please consult your tax advisor.
