We are happy to introduce and welcome our guest blogger, Marianna, from the Pacific Coast Farmers’ Market Association. Today she is going to share with us some information about the launch of American Canyon’s very own Farmers’ Market!
The Pacific Coast Farmers’ Market Association is a non-profit organization that operates more than fifty farmers’ markets in the Bay Area. We are incredibly excited to announce the opening of American Canyon Farmers’ Market! We had hopes of bringing a market to the City of American Canyon for quite some time now, and with the hard work of city officials, local vendors, and community members, the day is finally here!
MARK YOUR CALENDAR
The American Canyon Farmers’ Market opens for the first time on Sunday, May 1, 2016. The market will extend through the season until its last day on Sunday, October 30th. The market will be open every Sunday from 10am to 2pm. Its the perfect time of day to grab some fresh fruit for a late brunch or snack, or supplies for a summer supper!
LOCATION
The location of the American Canyon Farmers’ Market was chosen with the community in mind. The market will be held at 100 Benton Way, in the same square as Donaldson Way Elementary School, American Canyon Middle School, and the American Canyon Community Center. The market location is also surrounded by two community parks; ideal spots for children to play games, families to relax, and picnics, of course!
MARKET VENDORS & PRODUCTS
A variety of products will be available at the market. Visitors will have access to fresh, locally-sourced fruits, vegetables, and other local goods. As the market is brand new, its vendor list will continue to grow throughout the season.
At the opening on May 1st, market-goers will have access to sweet, first-of-the-season cherries from Resendiz Family Farms, succulent blueberries and blackberries from Berrylicious Fruit Farm, and artisan cheese from Dacheva Son’s Cheese Company, just to name a few. We guarantee that you will want to bring more than one reusable bag (sometimes we bring a wagon!). The City of American Canyon will provide free re-usable market bags to shoppers while supplies last!
COMMUNITY & NEWS
The American Canyon Farmers’ Market will provide the community with a safe and fun environment for families, access to fresh, local produce, and connections with local farmers and ranchers. We hope that the opening of the market and its remaining days will be met with great success, and become a staple of the community.
