WHO IS THE ACCPF?
We are a grassroots, community led non-profit organization that works together with the City of American Canyon Parks and Recreation Department to support parks and open space.
Our young non-profit proved once again that dedicated, passionate community members can bring about big change when given the opportunity. Together with our volunteers, members and sponsors we helped American Canyon expand the story of its parks and make BIG impact in our community.
Here are just a few of those stories and what they were all about! (Read more here)
WHAT IS YOUR MISSION?
The American Canyon Community and Parks Foundation (ACCPF) is dedicated to enhancing parks, program and a play in our community.
DO YOU DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN FUNDRAISING?
In addition to fundraising, the ACCPF provides advocacy for programs, parks and open spaces in our community. In addtion, we host three docent led hikes each year, and partner with the Parks and Recreation Department to provide special events. To see our 2017 work check out our 2017 Impact Report.
Check our Upcoming Events page often for updated details.
WHAT ARE YOUR FUNDRAISING FOR?
We have a prioritized list of projects that we are raising funds for. The first is for improvements to the Wetlands Edge Trailhead, which include native landscaping, outdoor exercise area, and bathroom. In December 2015, the ACCPF dedicated it's first gift to the community - a water fountain at Wetlands Edge Trailhead. To learn more check out out 2017 Impact Report.
Other projects include a community garden and walking paths in an unused plot of land between Donaldson Way School Community Park 1. Our long-term project is to build a Nature Based Playground in American Canyon.
Find out more about the projects we are working on by clicking here.
HOW DO YOU DETERMINE THE PROJECT LIST?
The ACCPF board meets regularly with the City of American Canyon Parks and Recreation Director to discuss potential projects. The Parks and Recreation Director makes a recommendation to the ACCPF to fundraise for a given project.
WHY DOESN'T THE CITY OF AMERICAN CANYON FUND THESE PROJECTS?
Unfortunately there is no extra money in the City budget for development of new parks projects. Previously parks were paid for with Parks Impact Fees from developers. However, as our city reaches its maximum build out population, there are fewer developments and less money available.
WHAT IS YOUR LONG-TERM PLAN?
Our long-term plan is to make positive, lasting contributions to the City of American Canyon in the areas of parks, recreation and open space.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS FOR MEMBERS?
All members receive four free passes to the Philip West Aquatic Center and invitations to our events. In the future we hope to offer discounts to local businesses. Founding Members are listed on our website, and thanked at our events.
WHAT IS THE ACCPF'S RELATIONSHIP TO THE CITY OF AMERICAN CANYON?
The ACCPF is a citizen led organization that supports the City of American Canyon Parks and Recreation Department. We raise money for parks projects that the city will develop.
WHERE DOES MY MONEY GO?
Membership fees, donations and sponsorships go directly toward implementation of projects. We have a small budget for supplies and marketing efforts, but we carefully manage our money so that the majority can be used to improve our community.
IS MY MEMBERSHIP OR SPONSORSHIP TAX DEDUCTIBLE?
Yes, memberships and sponsorships are tax deductible to the extent of the law. We are a state approved non-profit organization and our federal non-profit status is pending.
IF I WANT TO VOLUNTEER, HOW CAN I HELP?
We are seeking volunteers to help organize events, lead hikes, manage volunteers, and write grants. If you would like to help out in any way with the ACCPF we would love to talk with you! Visit our Get Involved page or email us.
