FAQs

The American Canyon Community and Parks Foundation (ACCPF) is dedicated to enhancing parks, programs, and play in our community.

WHAT IS YOUR MISSION?

We have a prioritized list of projects that we are raising funds for. In addition to raising funds for park and trail improvements, ACCPF community programs, hikes, recreation, and community scholarships,  ACCPF has started fundraising for the future Wetlands Ecology Center.

WHAT ARE YOU FUNDRAISING FOR?

WHO IS THE ACCPF?

Unfortunately, there is no extra money in the City budget for the development of new park projects. Previously parks were paid for with Parks Impact Fees from developers. However, as our city reaches its maximum build-out population, there are fewer developments and less money available.

WHY DOESN'T THE CITY OF AMERICAN CANYON FUND THESE PROJECTS?

WHO IS THE ACCPF?

We are a grassroots, community-led non-profit organization that works together with the City of American Canyon and other outdoor-focused partner organizations to support parks and open spaces.

Our young non-profit proves that dedicated, passionate community members can bring about big change when given the opportunity. Together with our volunteers, members and sponsors, we helped American Canyon expand the story of its parks and make a BIG impact in our community.

Here are just a few of those stories and what they were all about! (Read more here)

DO YOU DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN FUNDRAISING?

In addition to fundraising, the ACCPF provides advocacy for programs, parks, and open spaces in our community. In addition, we host docent-led hikes each year, provide special events, provide in-class environmental education, run the teen volunteer program "Play Team", run the Park & Play summer programs, Curiosity Kids meetups, and more. To see our 2021 work check out our 2021 Impact Report.

HOW DO YOU DETERMINE THE PROJECT LIST?

The ACCPF board meets regularly with the City of American Canyon Parks and Recreation Director to discuss potential projects. The Parks and Recreation Director makes a recommendation to the ACCPF to fundraise for a given project.

WHAT IS YOUR LONG-TERM PLAN?

Our long-term plan is to make positive, lasting contributions to the City of American Canyon in the areas of parks, recreation, open space, and environmental education.

The ACCPF is a citizen-led organization that supports the City of American Canyon Parks and Recreation Department. We raise money for parks projects that the city will develop.

WHERE DOES MY MONEY GO?

Membership fees, donations, and sponsorships go directly toward the implementation of projects. We have a small budget for supplies and marketing efforts, but we carefully manage our money so that the majority can be used to improve our community.

Yes, memberships and sponsorships are tax-deductible to the extent of the law. We are a state-approved non-profit organization and our federal non-profit status is pending.
